Why is TMA's After School Program the best place for your child?

This year we’re excited to announce that, in addition to running TMA’s after school program in Stittsville, we’ll be implementing the program at our Manotick location as well!

Students will be provided with FREE transportation from area schools directly to Therien Martial Arts facilities. If your child attends a school in our drop zone, he or she will be brought directly to our facility by the school bus as we have been designated a drop off point by the Ottawa Student Transport Authority.

For Therien Martial Arts in Stittsville, these schools include: Stittsville Public School, Holy Redeemer Elementary School, Jean Paul II Elementary School and Katimavik Elementary School.

If your school is not listed above, you can inquire with us directly as we have arranged a professional driver for additional transportation. In this case kids will be picked up in our designated TMA After School van – decked out so it’s easy to spot for the kids and very cool to be driven around in!

Both Manotick Public School and St. Leonard’s Catholic School are within the drop zone for our Manotick location.

After your child arrives, they will be provided with a healthy snack and time to complete homework with the help they need. There will also be supervised internet access if needed to complete homework assignments. If there is no homework a structured activity will be provided such as reading, puzzles, word games and other “brainwork”.

They key benefit for your child will be the daily Martial Arts class where kids will learn self-defense and develop physical skills such as balance, coordination, strength and flexibility. The best part? Kids love it! Our classes are fun, making learning exciting rather than a chore!

Built in to each day is an element of Character Building and Life Skills Development. The focus will be on topics such as anti-bullying, internet safety, leadership skills and developing an attitude of respect and friendship.

We want your child to have the best experience possible and encourage all students to participate fully in each activity. As such, we ask that children are only picked up early for extenuating circumstances such as doctor’s appointments.

When you pick up your child, they’ve had their snack, done their homework and participated in a great physical activity allowing you to enjoy that precious quality time in the evenings!
