As a parent, you’re always looking for ways to unlock your child’s potential and set him or her up for long-term success. Therien Martial Arts is ideal for parents who are looking for a constructive alternative to daycare, babysitting or latchkey. Latchkey children are between the ages of 6 and 13 who are spending time unsupervised at home. Statistics Canada estimates that there are almost one million latchkey children in need of some after school supervision. After school hours are an important part of your child’s development and if spent without supervision can lead to adverse or unproductive behaviour.
Through a structured curriculum and built in reward system, Martial Arts provides a platform for kids to learn and develop confidence, discipline, focus, and self esteem. Like no other school, Therien Martial Arts combines these important tenets with an age appropriate curriculum where kids are learning self defence and developing physical skills such as balance, coordination, strength and flexibility – all skills that are transferable to any other sport.
In addition to combining physical Martial Arts skills with building focus, confidence and respect, our After School Program will provide a friendly atmosphere for kids to socialize and learn to work in a team environment.
There will also be a strong emphasis on helping each child strive for academic achievement. The importance of putting forward 100% effort in school and continuing to learn will be a core value of the After School Program, encouraging curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
This program has been designed to help parents with the tough job of giving your child the tools and skills needed to overcome daily obstacles. Whether your child is getting bullied at school, is lacking in focus on schoolwork or has self-confidence issues, Therien Martial Arts can help your child become a self-confident leader socially, physically and academically.
